Locations that are near zones designated as  "hospital", "school", "heliport", "and "power plant" receive special scrutiny from law enforcement and FAA.  DroneBento policies prohibit us from operating in these zones without additional exemptions, and these areas will be identified in the early stages of project scoping.  DroneBento will not secure operations in special advisory areas, however, the client may choose to do so for us.  A written permission from persons authorized to grant sUAS operations in these advisory areas may be supplied by the client.

  • Heliports may not be active, and in some instances may be an empty field where helicopters can land in emergencies. DroneBento does not actively notify heliports of operations, although we remain aware of their locations, and offer NOTAM and other activity notifications.  If a heliport poses a problem, DroneBento will not fly the mission.
  • Schools are sensitive areas, or are areas where model aircraft flights are not permitted in, or are only permitted during certain hours or with permission.  DroneBento requires written permission from the school and also the law enforcement agency responsible for the jurisdiction.  As an additional precaution, law enforcement may be asked to conduct background screenings on the client as a security measure.
  • Hospitals are sensitive sites with unique safety and privacy concerns. We offer no guidance on securing permission for these areas as flight is not advised.
  • Powerplants may be governed by specific rules regarding flights near critical infrastructure. DroneBento does not fly commercial missions in the proximity of powerplants, or other critical infrastructure, with the exception of the owner of such infrastructure (be it a local municipality, government agency, or the operator).
